What an encouraging story on my homepage this morning! Actually, I knew about this from a news broadcast earlier in the week. It seems that the lowly algae may provide the world with a renewable source of fuel AND help to curb global warming at the same time! There are possibilities out there for us to explore, and those innovative scientists and researchers in The Netherlands are doing just that. This is an interesting read, for sure, and one which has implications for our planet. Have a look at this fascinating article!

I certainly read a lot of news, whether it is in the daily paper delivered to my door, or online on my msn home page. This morning’s article caught my eye. Take a look at the top earning positions for women – we as artists are right there in the entrepreneur category! We have great ideas and we are not afraid to execute them! Kudos for us!
Isn’t that intriguing? For those of us of a certain age, reading or hearing those words will evoke memories of an old movie which was one of the first to remind us that the universe is filled with the unexpected, the unknown, and the undiscovered. I can remember shuddering in my seat in the theater……..Fast forward, or perhaps not so fast forward………it is 2008, and the remake of this epic is in the works! Due to be released in December of this year, it stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, and promises to be a nail biter for sure. Just click on movie trailer and you can have a teensy peek at what the end of the year will bring!
Now, why would I be writing about this film? Well, because of Joan Kelley Bierman, of course! And who is Joan? She is an accomplished professional in the realm of film; she is an intelligent and thoughtful woman; she is funny and insightful; AND she just happens to be the woman in my son’s life! Yippee! Joan and Matthew met while they were both working on the second Scooby Doo film – he in editing, and she as the post production supervisor. The post person keeps the show going, makes sure the film is on time, on budget, in general – she does everything to pull the piece together. It is a Herculean task, and believe me: she is up to it! Imagine balancing the deadlines for the score, the special effects, the screenings AND working with the stars, the producers, the editors, etc. etc. etc. If you have seen Broken Arrow, Snow Dogs, Scooby Doo 2, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, Dreamgirls, or Street Kings, you have seen Joan’s work! What a woman! And the very best part is that she is in love with my son, Matthew, and he with her. She has brought so much to our lives as a family, and I am grateful every single day that a cartoon dog brought us all together! Here is a picture of Matthew and Joan taken at a wedding we attended one year ago. Are they the most adorable couple you’ve seen, or what? Matthew, by the way, is tall – 6′ 5″ ! I love them dearly, and wanted to share them, my happiness, and Joan’s news with all of you! Enjoy!
I’ve been tagged by Flora of Bonehead Studios! This should be interesting! Since I am new to the computer world of selling, blogging, uploading pictures (YIKES!), and everything else connected with the internet, this is a first for me. Let me think on this one……..Seems to me as though everyone around me knows everything about me, but for the internet world………
~I am still wearing the sweatpants my son wore in high school —-20 years ago! He passed them on to me, and they are comfy, warm, soft, and look as though they need to be discarded, but I paint and sculpt in them in the winter, so they will be with me until they fall apart.
~I love going to hardware stores, office supply stores, and of course, anywhere carrying art supplies, but I detest clothes shopping – please see the first thing about me!
~I have a jar of chocolate chips in my pantry, and dip into it every day. Nothing like a stash of your fav candy!
~I have no patience for people who complain about the world and do nothing to improve it, i.e., VOTE, become involved in a community project, help a friend in need
~If Tina Turner called me this very moment to ask me to be a backup singer and dancer, I would drop whatever I was doing and leave! I’ve danced all of my life, even taught ballet for a few years at a college in my area. I have to move every day! Going on tour with her would be Heaven! And, I would pay HER to let me do it!
~I want to pet a tiger before I die. I don’t know how I will do that, but there must be a way. When I was a child, my uncle used to climb over a barrier (I know, really dangerous!) at the National Zoo in Washington to pet a leopard. They had some sort of connection, and I was fascinated!
Well, there you have it. Now, on to the lucky people who get to do this:

Have fun, and tell us something we don’t know!!!!!!!!!
Woo Hoo! As many of you know, my son, Matthew, is a film editor in Hollywood. He has been there twelve years, and has had some wonderful opportunities to travel, meet interesting people, and work his butt off! Little did I realize when he began his career that he would work an average of 60-70 hours a week, many weekends, and sometimes straight through for a year without a vacation. if you have been to see The Out-of-Towners, Paulie, The Substitute, Booty Call, Mission Impossible 2, Price of Glory, Scooby Doo, Scooby Doo 2, Catwoman, Bad Santa, The Lake House, or Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers, you will have seen some of his work, mostly as an assistant editor, and occasionally as a visual effects editor. His effects unit won an Emmy for the Sci-Fi Channel’s Dune mini series. Am I a proud Mom, or what?????
He completed a film over one year ago, and it will be released on October 24. The film stars Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada) as a counselor who is working with survivors of a plane crash, and discovers more than she bargained for. Click on Passengers, and take a look! AND, this is the first film for him to have an additional editor’s credit – a major step forward in his career!
It is a truly amazing and wondrous world we live in! Australian marine scientists have discovered hundreds of new species! Take a look at this article which was on my msn homepage this morning! Just imagine the possibilities! Imagine the excitement! Wowee! Wouldn’t you just love to be a part of this venture! Enjoy this read!
Ever wonder how colors go in and out of fashion? I certainly have. There is the quintessential group of experts who forecast trends, but many others in the professional worlds of textiles, home decor, etc., are now doing the same. Take a look at this page I just found on the Sherwin-Williams site…. I don’t own stock in them, don’t work for them, but just found their information interesting. I will post other info as I find it!
I read a wonderful story online this morning about a German shepherd who called 911 to help his owner. We all need nice news, and this certainly hits the spot! Just because our furred and feathered friends don’t speak in our own language, it doesn’t mean that they cannot communicate and are not capable of extraordinary accomplishments! Take a minute and read about Buddy! It should remind you that life savers truly ARE everywhere!
For those of you who have checked into the Spooky Time Jingles site and have not been able to get on, Dani sent out a message to all of the artists about 4 am this morning, indicating that because of unexpected weather issues, the update for this month has been delayed. They are trying to get the update going through another location, so hold tight! It will happen! In the meantime, I am posting more pictures of my new items available this month! Enjoy!
Another sneak peek as we rapidly approach September 13th! This is a bobbin with a cute little guy perched on top. He is pegged and doweled so that he can be removed. He then can sit in a fall arrangement, in a basket of gourds, etc. The bobbin is left free for a votive, or perhaps a chunky candle! Look for him tomorrow on my Spooky Time Jingles pages!
