It’s beginning to look a lot like…..SNOW?

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Well, sorta!  I have been working on some prototypes to be licensed, and this is  a teaser of two of the pieces I have submitted.   I know…….bummer not to be able to see the complete snow people, but hopefully, they will be available next year!  Yeah!  Enjoy!

Get to USArtQuest….NOW!

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Yes indeed!  USArtQuest is THE place for the most terrific, innovative products I have seen in a VERY long time!  When I attended the Hampton, Virginia Art and Soul Retreat (see my previous post!), it was my thrill to sit for literally HOURS at Sue’s demo spot and learn about the fabulous products SHE has developed!  And, I write that SHE has developed them.  Were I to describe them in one word…..well, I cannot use just one word!

Let’s see………beautiful acrylic paints made to the highest standards, MICA Color – sparkling Mica and pigment watercolor paint which even works over BLACK – it does!  I saw it!  She has metal leaf, Craze and Crackle Paste,  Artist’s Cement in both light and heavy for your varied uses, Great Tape which has to be seen to be believed – what you can do with this!  She has mica in assorted sizes and uses, metal leaf, and, and…..well, it is seemingly endless!  She even has projects, techniques, and webisodes on the site!

Go the USArtQuest site and take a look at the exciting products and the myriad of uses!  It doesn’t matter what art form you enjoy!  Sue has something for everyone in the art world!  Believe me!  I watched many demos, and I heartily recommend Sue’s products!  You know how it is when you see some sort of infomercial on tv, and you think to yourself – oh yeah, sure……Well, I can tell you that this is the real deal!  I have seen the products, felt the finished pieces made with these products, and have talked with other artists who have used them.  You owe it to yourself to dip your creative toe into this pool of creativity!  You will not regret it!  Can you tell that I am enthusiastic about it?!  You betcha!  Enjoy!

Color Trends 2009

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Ever wonder how colors go in and out of fashion?  I certainly have.  There is the quintessential group of experts who forecast trends, but many others in the professional worlds of textiles, home decor, etc., are now doing the same.  Take a look at this page I just found on the Sherwin-Williams site….  I don’t own stock in them, don’t work for them, but just found their information interesting.  I will post other info as I find it!

Market news

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Hi there!  Well, the Atlanta Market for the summer is winding up, and I have been getting the updates through newsletters.  If you have never been to a wholesale market, Atlanta is an experience beyond belief!  A vertical shopping paradise awaits buyers from all the over the world, and if you have it in your closet, on your floor, on your walls, or decorating your home, the chances are that it has come to you by way of a trade show.

Here are a couple of links to some newsy tidbits about this summer’s festivities – and there are festivities! The Direct from Market: Atlanta and Market Report letters will give you a taste of what has been going on, what the offerings were, and what you can expect to see the second half of the year and next spring.  Yes, next spring, because spring lines are usually sampled this time of year!  It gives manufacturers time to get production underway so that shipping can take place in January.  MBAers tell us that we have a consumer-driven economy, and after visiting Atlanta, you can believe it!

Trade news

I subscribe to several email newsletters, among them, Home Textiles Today, since I design fabrics. I thought today’s newsletter was really interesting, because it talks about two giants in marketing: Bloomingdale’s and Martha Stewart. You can subscribe to these newsletters by completing an online informational form. Check it out!
