Thanks for Giving
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008As we approach my favorite holiday of any year, I am reminded of how truly generous the human spirit can be. We hear the negative, the frightening, the dark news about troubled times. I think what we forget is that as long as there has been man on earth, there have always been challenges. They simply take on different forms. Imagine living through the Plague, the Holocaust, the Hundred Years War, but the human spirit triumphed, rebounded, and came back strong.
Let’s all remember that on Thanksgiving, and on every day, there is still much to be thankful for, and much to give one another. I have had many blessings in my life from people who helped my family through difficult periods. There are those I never even met, but I knew that I had been the fortunate recipient of their grace. So, thanks to all of you for giving to me in so many ways, and may we have a peaceful day tomorrow, a day with friends and family, a day of gratitude for what we DO have, and not a day of sorrow for what we don’t have.
